May Flowers!…and gigs!
Dear Folks & Friends,
May! How lovely. I dig it. I’m on my bike much more often, the windows of the house are open, and Sylvan can’t wait for school to be through! How ’bout you? Let me know!
Here is what The Kid has going on this month. It is a little meager, but I’m not complaining!
Saturday, May 5, Cafe Django, 6:30-8:30p. Me and my good buddy Ron Kadish, a fine bassist and musician, will be playing as a duo at this yummy restaurant. I look forward to this gig because we will play material that I don’t frequently play, namely my original Hoosier Surf Klezmer tunes!
Monday, May 7, Player’s Pub, 8-10p. Kid Kazooey, the songwriter, will be joining a few other songwriters taking turns sharing original tunes with brief stories behind the scene of the tune! This is The Player’s Pub’s Singer/Songwriter Showcase!
Saturday, May 19, The Green Nursery, 4-5:30p. Kid Kazooey & The BallRoom Roustabouts offer a family concert in the parking lot of our friends’ Scott and Abby’s great local business, The Green Nursery. This is a going away party of sorts. But don’t worry, they’re only going as far as Hillside and Henderson!
Friday and Saturday, May 25 & 26, Brown County Playhouse, 7:30p. The Breeze that Bends the Grass is a musical written by Krista Detor and The BallRoom Roustabouts’ own Arbutus Cunningham! AND Mrs. Kazooey, Lara Lynn Weaver, is in it and wrote one of the songs! The musical explores the lives and art of four early 20th century Indiana women artists. It will be worth every penny of the $15-18 tickets, available atwww.browncountyplayhouse.org
Just a few more things and then we can all get on with enjoying this lovely month!
Kid Kazooey & The BallRoom Roustabouts’ new CD, Umpteen Moons, and Kid Kazooey & Joe Lee’s new picture book,The Three Eyed Dragon, are both out and about town and on the internet! Support these local Bloomington businesses to get your copies: The Green Nursery, Landlocked Records, and The BABS Boutique
This is the last month where there will be NO Second Sunday performance at Max’s! This month my excuse is Mother’s Day! June should have us back on schedule: Second Sunday of the Month, Max’s Place, 3-4:30p, Kid kazooey/Pizza Parlour Entertainment Extraordinaire!
Thank you for coming out to Kid Kazooey shows!
Much love and respect,
Mr. Kazooey
