The Three Eyed Dragon

A Knight, a princess, a dragon, and a twist!

That’s the premise of the charming children’s book The Three-Eyed Dragon, written by Bloomington, Indiana songwriter and musician Kid Kazooey and illustrated by artist Joe Lee.

The story, drawn from the lyrics of Kid’s song of the same title, tells the tale of a knight “both strong and bold” who must kill a dragon to win the love of a beautiful but vain princess. When the knight meets a charming three-eyed dragon, things take an unexpected turn.

Written for children ages two through seven, the story is brought to life by Lee’s rich, colorful, and witty illustrations. The book also includes musical notation for young readers, parents, and teachers interested in learning to play the song on piano and other instruments.

Best known for his unique brand of high energy music for youngsters, Kid Kazooey’s first foray into book writing marks a new direction for the “Singin’ & Swingin’ Librarian” (Kid holds a master’s in library science from Indiana University), who hopes that The Three-Eyed Dragon and accompanying CD–which features four songs about books and libraries–will inspire kids to read and develop a love of books and stories.
